Viti Levu, Fiji
We visited Fiji in early March, 2022 using tickets we had purchased to go to New Zealand. Because of several factors, Fiji’s Covid testing, the location of the time share we were going to, the time of day we arrived in Fiji, and driving on the left side of the road, we decided to spend our firs three nights at the Doubletree, relatively near the airport, before driving 2 ½ hours down to our time share in Pacific Harbour. The map below shows key places in our visit
Our flight arrived around 5:30 AM so we had a taxi take us to the Doubletree where we could work on getting our bodies adjusted to the time and recover from a 10 hour flight
The Double tree is on an island and the only way to get there is take a small boat run by the resort from this landing to the island you see in the background. On the right was our cabin, or Bure as they are know in Fiji.
A couple of views from our front deck/porch.
Looking along the coast. The horse is one of several that they keep to give kids a horesback ride
And, of course, a very nice infinity pool
The restaurant was an open to the elements style and on one side bordered the pool. The food there was very good. This is a local fish cooked in coconut milk.
We had planed two excursions while at the Doubletree, a sunset dinner cruise and an all day boat trip that included snorkeling and lunch on the island where Tom Hanks’ Castaway was filmed. Sadly, the dinner cruise was canceled by bas weather but the other event went as planned.
