Fall camping along the Washington and Oregon Coast
For our fall trip we decided on a slow, leisurely, trip along the Washington and Oregon coasts with an inland return
Our Route
And these are the signs that were very common on our trip south
Our first stop was Fort Townsend SP on Puget Sound. The old fort is the home of the oldest man planted Douglas Firs which are now over 150 years old. Across an arm of the sound USS Nimitz was either loading or unloading ammo.
On the way to our first stop we went by this pretty little town on on the Strait of Juan de Fuca
Ozette Lake campground is a part of Olympic NP and is a couple of miles from the coast (in fact, almost all of the “coastal” campgrounds were some distance from the ocean. The tree is a large and old Alder
On the way to our next stop we took a side trip to Neah Bay which is on the western edge of the strait of Juan de Fuca
Mora campground, also part of Olympic NP, was out next stop. It is under some old growth trees and on the Quillayute River
