Positano

Enroute to Positano we stopped in Vietri Sul Mare to order some replacement pottery from our favorite pottery maker.  It should show up here some day.

In Positano we stayed in one of our all time favorite B&B's.  This was our fourth visit to La Fenice dating back to the summer of 1995.  This B&B (which is also found in Karen Brown's guide) consists of numerous small building spread out on the hill side above the Mediterranean connected by steps, steps, and more steps.  It was about 145 steps from this year's cabana up to breakfast, about 100 down to the pool, and several hundred down to the beach.  Not that we have made it down to the beach since our initial visit in '95.  The pool was empty for cleaning our first afternoon there so we just took a nap and went into town for dinner at our normal first night in Positano restaurant.

We spent the next day at La Fenice.  Breakfast, morning alongside the now refilled pool, lunch on the terrace below the pool, afternoon along side the pool.  That evening we went into town for a little shopping and a fancy dinner.

From Positano we went up to Monte di Prociada to see our friends Maria and Allessandro Pugliese and the Lubrano family, my landlord from 1994-95.
