Pompeii

On our last day in Italy we picked up the Barnes family (Tom was a good friend of Bryan's) and took them to Pompeii.

From Pompeii we went to some old Roman ruins near the town of Cassino (we were much surprised to find them behind a fence-in the old days they were just sitting out in the open for anyone to wonder through).  And then it was on to their hotel near the Rome airport and to our hotel, also near the airport where we got to listen to a rock concert well into the night.

The next day we took the long flight from Rome to Amsterdam to Minneapolis-St Paul and a taxi home.  As much as we love Italy it was good to be home.
