Sassetta

This corner of Tuscany is a sleepy hollow sort of place.  Not a lot of ruins lying around, not a lot of tourists (other than German bikers who stay down near the coast and bike up into the hills), in fact not a lot of anything which makes it a great place to relax for a day or two.  We arrived in mid-afternoon so we stopped at the local store, got some local wine, local bread, and local salami and ate on the balcony of our room in yet another Karen Brown B&B-this one being Tenuta La Bandita.

After a nice nap we had a very good dinner at the B&B (making it a B&B&D I suppose).

The next day, we spent at the pool.

That night we ate in small restaurant in the hills above Sassetta.  We got to the restaurant about 8:30 making us so early that the young lady who waited on us had to run home (same place) to change.  We were the only patrons until just before we left when another family arrived.  Living on European time takes some getting used too-more on this subject later.

This picture shows an interesting gadget.  The ladies all ordered a mixed meat kabob which is shown suspended from a metal arm which is clamped to the table.  Makes it easy to slide a single piece of meat off of the skewer and on to the plate.  Our waitress is in the background.

The next day was the last full day in Italy for Alison and Judie.  We drove down the coast highway with them to our next stop, a inn outside of Rome.
