Saturday morning we walked over the rise into Bellagio proper. It is a pretty waterfront town with a high percentage of tourists.
These are pictures taken in the streets.
We looked into a few stores, found a restaurant that looked neat but couldn't get a seat for Saturday so got a reservation for Sunday-this is as tough as South Bend on a Notre Dame football weekend and not in our Italian experience. While I was out looking for a picture to take, Gail went into the Information office to acquire a poster or two and instead acquired a family of three Americans, or they acquired her, I'm not sure which. At any rate, the upshot was that we agreed to accompany them on a tour of a nearby villa which was most interesting. Built by a Cardinal, it contained secret passages so the Cardinal had access to his mistress' bedroom. So the guide told us. The last owner was a Count who led the first Italian expedition to the top of Mount Everest and then took a dog sled to the north pole. His final "expedition" was the restoration of the villa. His art and artifact collection was awesome and his "I Love Me" room was world class. Here we are on a veranda-like structure between his library and the main building.
We returned to Bellagio and had dinner with our new friends.
Sunday was another take it easy day. We went up the mountain behind town for lunch at a little bar and took this picture of the eastern leg of the lake. This leg is officially named Lago Lecco (Lake Lecco). The infamous Lecco is down at the end of the lake. The helo pad is appropriately, perhaps, next to the memorial to the fallen motorcyclist.
