Camping 2019
Page 2
We left Pinnacles and continued on down 101 until we came to Pismo Beach. We camped at Oceano Dunes State Park and enjoyed this very nice sunset.
The next stop was Jalama Beach County Park. This isn’t very far from Gaviota so we had visited it in the past but this was the first time we stayed there, and yes, we were camped ther on the sand. Spent two very enjoyable days there letting Musby run on the beach and having a great, “World Famous” Jalama Burger for dinner one night. This beach is on the south side of the Vandenberg Missile range and in a very empty section of the California Coast as seen on the next two pictures
The park nestled in under the bluff and the railroad tracks
Looking up the California Coast. That is probably Point Arguello in the distance or maybe Rocky Point. Honda Point, scene of one of the all time worst peace time US Navy disasters is just a little further up the coast. Read about it here. Point Conception is a few miles south of this picture.
Our next stop was our old stomping ground, Gaviota State Park. I put the drone up and got these two pictures. We went on down to Refugio State Beach to spend the night.
We had some interesting clouds and a bit of rain that afternoon and then we had a great sunset.
The sunset was followed by a photo worthy sunrise
We camped at two more Navy bases, Pt Mugu and Seal Beach, on the way south but we were busy visiting friends and family and didn’t take any pictures, so on to the return trip
