Spain
The last two nights in Spain were spent in Madrid. We arrived at mid-day Sunday and decided to go to the big museum (the Prado) on Monday. Big mistake. Turns out that the museums are FREE on Sunday and CLOSED on Monday. At least most museums are. By some quirk of fate the one museum that was open on Monday was the modern art museum, my least favorite type of art.
While in Madrid we bought a two day pass to ride these tour buses which go most everywhere a tourist would want to go. Plus they have a recording that informs you of the sights you are passing.
Here we are passing something the people of Madrid call Our Lady of Communications. the Spanish government calls it the Post Office.
Don Quixote rides across the Plaza de Espaņa, not far from our hotel and a very convenient place to catch the red bus.
The Plaza Mayor in the late evening, a place we enjoyed thoroughly, as there was always something going on there. This is El Encanto de la Flauta playing.
and here we are having our last dinner in Spain
